Qualification Requirements
- To be eligible for the Resident Shariah Board Member position, applicants must fulfill any one of the following educational criteria:
- Option 1: Shahadat ul Aalamiyyah Degree (Dars-e-Nizami) or similar recognized degree from a recognized Board of Madaris, along with a Bachelor’s Degree (other than the Madaris degree).
- Option 2: Post-Graduate Degree in Kuliyyatush Shariah, Kuliyyah Usooluddin, LL.M. (Shariah), or equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
- Option 3: Shariah Scholar members of Shariah Board/Committees of internationally reputed organizations operating in other jurisdictions
Required Experience & Skills
- Experience Options:
- At least 4 years of experience in giving Shariah rulings (Fatawa), including the period of Takhassus fil Ifta.
- OR at least 5 years post-qualification experience in teaching or Research & Development (R&D) in Islamic Banking and Finance.
- Preferences:
- Preference will be given to candidates holding a certificate in Takhassus fil Fiqh / Takhassus fil Ifta.
- Preference will also be given to scholars with at least 3 years of experience as a Shariah Advisor, Member of a Shariah Board (SB) of an Islamic Financial Institution (IFI), or Deputy to a Shariah Advisor/Member.
Core Competencies:
- Adequate understanding of banking and finance in general and Islamic finance in particular.
- Deep knowledge of Fiqh ul Muama’alat and Shariah-related operational issues
- Strong mastery of Islamic Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh) and Fiqh methodologies for deriving juristic opinions.
